Cartouche 1.  乚 丩 旬 丩

(Together we hide/left, ten years together)

Cartouche 2.  齒「呂」回「呂」

(Speaking of “City of Singing”, returning to “City of Singing”)

Cartouche 3.  寅 虎 回 丩

(In Year of Tiger, we return together)

==================================

Horizontal lines in Cartouche 2 indicate “” (Quote)

(Modified – These notations are similarly used as 私名號 / 專名號)

“呂”

For the two words in lower right and lower left of Cartouche 2, the bigger square in both words indicates “City” (imagine the city walls), while one smaller square in the lower right and two smaller squares in the lower left both mean “SINGING”. They just did not separate the two smaller squares so you may think this is「日」, but it is not「日」, rather it is「呂」.

(呂,唱歌,Solo or Chorus,「City of Singing 歌城/音律之城」,朝歌城,The capital of Shang Dynasty)

One small square – Solo (Singing)

Two small squares – Chorus (Singing)

Also, for the SYMMETRY reason, if you compare the Cartouche 1 and Cartouche 2, you can find the correspondence (丩 and丩 in Cartouche 1, while「呂」and「呂」in Cartouche 2). Besides, in Cartouche 1, these two 丩 are left-right reversed; in Cartouche 2, these two「呂」are in one-two relevance (solo v.s. chorus).

Figure 7 on Page 8, “Cartouche 3”, there is an unknown symbol on the right side. My conjecture is it indicates TIGER (虎) which may describe the “寅虎年”. (the year of tiger)

在作者的文章第 8 頁的圖 7 (Cartouche 3) 右側有個未知符號,我猜測是「虎」,意思是「寅虎年」。(佔有兩格,應該是個「詞」而非單一個「字」)
